The infamous concept of a bucket list hangs over our heads like a constant reminder of our wunderlust dreams, fitness inspirations, and personal aspirations. Your bucket list is an ADVENTURE. Instead of referring to it as simply a list refine it and embrace YOUR BUCKET LIST ADVENTURE.
I know this post promised 10 Bucket List Adventures you need in your life (and I promise to give you TEN) but the emphasis on adventure is necessary. A bucket list is merely a list without the sense of going outside of your comfort zone. An adventure is something you create with not only your actions, but your perspective & intentions. Discover the world to fall in love with it, not to just say you have been there.
2. DO SOMETHING OUTDOORS FOR 31 DAYS STRAIGHT
Last summer my dad & I swam in the ocean every single day for one hour for 31 days straight in August. Each person has their own image of the outdoors, for me it is the beach or camping in Yosemite. Find something you love to do outdoors and set aside one hour per day for 31 days and do it. This year during July & August, I will again be swimming in the ocean for one hour for 31 days straight...who is with me?
3. RUN FOR A CAUSE
Yes, that it correct. Your bucket list adventure needs to have running. It doesn't have to be a marathon, triathlon, or anything with long distance. Run for fun & for a cause. In the wise words of Nike, "Just do it." Do a Color Run, support your local hospital, raise awareness for breast cancer, something to raise awareness. Run for a cause.
4. READ A RELIGIOUS TEXT
This might seem odd to some people when they think of the typical "Bucket List", but the point of the Bucket List is to do things you find interesting and want to accomplish but also to discover new cultures, people, and passions. Read a religious text be it the Bible, the Torah, or simply any text that speaks to you (as long as its not just a text message). Personally, I am reading the Bible in Spanish this year and translating as I go, finding passages that speak to me not only in English but also in Spanish. It has given a broader perspective of the Bible as well as insight into my own personal beliefs.
5. LIVE OUT ONE OF YOUR PINTEREST BOARDS
Pinterest is like a dream Sims world for adults. We can find things we like, tips, places to go, we can create a whole world we desire at the click of the button but not actually DO ANY OF IT. Isn't that mind blowing? We desire these things but don't go after them. WHAT THE HECK IS STOPPING US?! Time? Money? Obligations? Take a good hard look at your Pinterest and pick one of your boards- Clothing, Adventures, Food, Fitness, Wedding, WHATEVER YOU DESIRE. Now...CREATE IT. In real life. That's correct. Live out your Pinterest board and not just in a half trying way. Go 110% in. Take what you desire & accomplish it. Live it out.
6. LEARN A NEW SKILL (OR FIVE)
There are sooo many things we have yet to discover, so why not be adventurous and learn a new skill?! This year I want to learn how to snowboard, play guitar, speak Spanish, and surf (better). Do not take on too many skills you want to learn or you will become overwhelmed and not accomplish any of them.
7. ROAD TRIP FOR AT LEAST SIX HOURS EACH WAY
Take a road trip, even if it's just for three days and drive somewhere that is at least six hours away each way. You will experience more than beautiful views and have wonderful travel dreams accomplish, you will experience those you are with in a whole new perspective. Take the time in the road trip to appreciate those around you and learn their story.
8. TRAVEL TO A SMALL TOWN
We all dream of our summer European vacation visiting Paris or the South of France, but take a minute and travel to a small town. It doesn't have to be European or "trendy", just pick a town and go there. See what is up. FIND AN ADVENTURE. Experience daily life in other people's shoes.
9. BECOME CERTIFIED
Not only learn a new skill, but become certified at it. In seventh grade I was certified by the American Red Cross in Babysitting (cool, right?) and CPR (pretty helpful, even though I've never used it *knock on wood*). I am aiming to become re-certified in CPR & become a certified scuba diver. WHAT, HOW COOL?!
10. CREATE SOMETHING
Go to Color-Me-Mine or Build-A-Bear or better yet build a tree-house. Research DIY projects (trust me there are THOUSANDS on Pinterest). Create something for yourself or for others with intention and purpose. Something you imagined and designed on your own. Create.
11. GO 26 HOURS TECHNOLOGY FREE
Yes. You read that correctly. 26 hours. I believe in you. Unplug for 26 hours, including alarms, music, anything electronic. UNPLUG COMPLETELY for 26 hours. What do you accomplish?
These Bucket List Adventures are suppose to push you think of a life of passion and strength found within yourself and guide you to a place where you can live in love with your life and with others. A bucket list is a set of goals that consists of our wildest desires. Create one and accomplish it. What is on your bucket list adventures? What do you think of mine?
